About This Bird

As a former resident of the World Parrot Refuge, we have no idea of Marco’s history or his age. What we do know is that this little guy (well, actually, we don’t know for sure that he is a guy!) is a handsome, albeit somewhat feather-picked, Blue and Gold Macaw. He is sweet, timid, and LOVES to eat. It has been thrilling to watch him gradually coming out of his shell. While he is not strongly oriented to people he makes no attempt to bite. When he is out of his cage he will bravely commandeer the food cart and say “Hello!” in a dear little voice. Once he finds his own home it is likely that he will blossom with the extra love and attention. Marco has papilloma (avian herpes). This is not transmissible to humans, but it is to macaws and other New World parrots. So far it has had minimal impact on his quality of life.
