JOB DESCRIPTION: DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION/SECRETARY – VOLUNTEER

Interested in helping our parrots?   Are you a CGA or CPA with a knowledge of non-profit accounting and tax receipts?   If so, we need your help with accounting and finance.  Join our board as our Director of Administration.  Maybe you know of someone qualified who has a bit of time available.  If so, please share this message.    The work can be done remotely so an individual who does not reside in the Vancouver area is welcome to apply.

Who we are: 

Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary is a non-profit society whose purpose is to provide rescue and protection for parrots. Through our adoption program, we strive to place parrots in new loving homes.  We provide education and support to parrot guardians and the general public. We oppose the breeding and selling of parrots through pet stores, bird marts or via the internet.  We are largely operated by our volunteers who devote their time to ensuring that the parrots in our sanctuary are loved and very well cared for.

Who you are:

A CPA or CGA with some knowledge of non-profit accounting and tax receipts

A high level of leadership, organizational and administrative skills

A keen desire to lend your accounting expertise to help a small non profit

Experienced with Quickbooks

The role:

This is a work from home position with a very flexible schedule and the weekly anticipated commitment is 1 to 2 hours. Participation at board meetings is appreciated, these can be either online or in person.

Working with other Directors and coordinators, the Director of Administration is responsible for completing annual financial statements and all filings required by the CRA and BC Societies. 

· Maintain the books of account – Quickbooks

· Reconcile the bank accounts on a monthly basis

· Prepare annual Financial Statements

· Prepare annual Charity Information  Return – T3010

· Consult with the Board of Directors regarding potential opportunities or risks

· Prepare and file Annual Societies Report

· Work with our Payroll Administrator and Financial Coordinator

· Ensure all legal and financial reporting requirements are being met

· Manage society by-laws and constitution as required

· Prepare and file semi-annual GST and PST returns

· Prepare (when applied for ) and file applications for government subsidies

· Record Directors Meetings and AGM Minutes.
